Nissan Rent A Car Japan 2 Rental Terms for travel between 06-Dec-2016 and 07-Dec-2019

Driver's License Requirements
Driving in Japan requires to hold valid international driving permit. Please check if you hold one of the followings.
Standard domestic driving license issued in Japan (for those who stay in Japan)
International driving permit (under Geneva Convention, Convention on International Road Traffic of September 19, 1949)
Foreign driving license (issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco)

When you drive a car in Japan with holding international driving permit.
*You're required to show your passport and international driving permit together.
International driving permit should be issued by the institute who holds right authority and the country which signed Geneva Convention.
*You're unable to drive in domestic Japan with holding international driving permit issued by Prefectural Public Safety Committee.
*The validity of international driving permit is one year after the issue.
International driving permit should be corresponded with how it's supposed to be decided by Geneva Convention in terms of size, color, shape and so on.
<Limitation for those who are recorded in Basic Resident Registration System>
If you're recorded in Basic Resident Registration System (Japanese or foreigners staying in Japan for medium to long period) and come back to Japan within 3 months after leaving Japan, you might be unable to drive in Japan even if you could meet the above requirements.
If you hold the driving license issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco, you can drive a car in Japan by showing it with Japanese translation letter within one year after landing at Japan.
Please bring the two items as below and drivers' passport together to the departure outlet.
<Issue for Japanese translation letter>
Japanese translation letter of your driving license can be arranged by your consulate/embassy or Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) branch offices.
For Taiwanese, you're required to have Japanese translation letter issued by JAF or East Asia Relations Commission.

No show
In case of No show, we charge 1 day of rental as cancellation fee.

Fuel Policy
You are responsible for all gasoline costs. You shall return the vehicle to us fully refueled at a gasoline station designated by us or located near to our office, or pay us the amount calculated in accordance with odometer reading.

One-Way Policy
You may pick up the vehicle in one location and return it to a different location.
For example, you may pick up the vehicle in a Tokyo office and return it to a shop located near your home in Saitama.

Late return
A late night handling fee in the amount of 810 JPY (after tax) will be assessed for vehicle pick-ups or returns at any time between 11:00 p.m. and 4:59 a.m.
If you both pick up and return the vehicle during the said hours, the amount of the late night handling fee will be 1,620 JPY (after tax).
(You can pick up and return vehicles during said hours only at offices that are open during those hours.)
The late night handling fee is not reflected or included in quoted charges shown at the time of your internet reservation, and will be separately assessed at the office where you pick up or return the vehicle.
Other Special Fees
Separate fees are set for island areas (Rishiri Island, Rebun Island and Okinawa Prefecture) and overseas areas (Guam).

Rates Inclusions
Our rates include Unlimited kms, Airport/location charge, Tax, Vat, 3rd party liability, all additional drivers and basic insurance.

Basic insurance
Personal compensation: Unlimited (including 30 million yen for Automobile Third Party Liability Insurance) per person.   
Property Compensation: Unlimited 
Vehicle Compensation: Current value of vehicle per accident.   
Personal injury compensation   
    When injured (including death and aftereffects) due to an accident while driving/riding a vehicle, such damage will be compensated.   
    Maximum compensation amount is 30 million yen (per person).   
For certain symptoms of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, degree aftereffects requiring nursing care, the maximum compensation amount is 60 million yen.   
Payment will be settled with actual costs accordingly to provisions of contract of its insurance company.   

Non-Operation Charges (NOC)   
The customer will be subject to the following charges as part of compensation for non- operation of the vehicle while it is being repaired.   
In case the rented vehicle is returned (driven back) to the pick up location    20,000 yen
In case the rented vehicle is returned at another location                                  50,000 yen
 *Non-operation charge must be charged even if the customer has applied to Collision Damage Waiver and paid the fee.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
